A person spends a third of his life in a dream, and only a physiological pose allows the body to fully recover, gives the authorities additional opportunities for further work. Doctor of Medical Sciences, orthopedist-traumatologist Vladimir Kotov told what provisions are considered physiological during sleep and to whom they are suitable.

There is an opinion that the most correct sleep pose is the one in which it is convenient to fall asleep. But from a medical point of view, this is not always

the case. Usually we manage to fall asleep in the correct pose only when we are ready for this. If a person is very tired, he can fall asleep in any position, which, most likely, will not be physiological.

In a physiological pose for sleeping, we are when our muscles are completely relaxed, and internal organs function normally. You need to accustom yourself to sleep in the right position, and you can choose it for yourself, given the general state of health, the presence or absence of problems with the musculoskeletal or respiratory systems and other organs.

Regulation No. 1: on the back

The pose of “lying on the back” is considered one of the most correct for sleep. In this position, the muscles relax and the spine is aligned. In addition, the skin of the face does not contact with a pillow and rests best.

Such a pose serves as the prevention of osteochondrosis. The sleep on the back is suitable for people with diseases of the cardiovascular system and for those who have pain in the spine.

Sleeping on their backs is not recommended for women in the second half of pregnancy, as well as people suffering from snoring, night apnea, bronchial asthma and other problems with the respiratory system. In order not to accidentally be in a dream in this position, pockets are sewn to the pajamas between the shoulder blades and the tennis ball is placed there. When you try to lie on your back, you will wake up and turn on your side. Thus, in just a few weeks, a reflex will develop – do not sleep on your back.

Regulation No. 2: on the side or in the pose of the embryo

One of the most common and natural sleep poses is the so -called embryo pose. From a psychological point of view in this position, a person feels protected. With physiological – in this position the respiratory tract opens well, pressure is removed from the organs and the spine. There are several “but”.

Firstly, this is not the most favorable pose for the skin of the face: when in contact with the pillow, the skin “crashes”, which in the future can lead to facial wrinkles. Secondly, in this position the back muscles are far from always relaxed. In addition, sleep on the left side is not recommended for those who suffer from heart disease and hypertension.

Regulation No. 3: On the stomach

Regarding whether the dream on the stomach is useful, the opinions of specialists diverge. To take a physiological position on the stomach, you need to try very hard. Otherwise, the main rules – maximum muscle relaxation and proper functioning of organs – are violated by several points.

First of all, unnatural bends should be avoided in the cervical region and thereby – disturbances in the blood supply to the brain. A dream on the stomach, when the head is turned 90 degrees, can cause a headache in the morning, and moreover: it increases the risk of a stroke.

You can solve this problem, either completely getting rid of the pillow, or by replacing it with a low model. But note that a too low pillow can make you reflexively put your hand under it and thereby cause neuropathy of the radial nerve, which will lead to numbness of the limb. Breathing during sleep on the abdomen worsens, since at pressure on the lungs we do not let them completely open when inhalation. The heart takes on additional work on the delivery of oxygen and does not rest.

The sleep on the stomach is suitable for a few. Often these are those who suffer from snoring or problems with the digestive organs. The pose saves from intestinal colic and flatulence, and also serves as the prevention of gastritis and ulcers. In addition, during sleep on the stomach, the pressure on the kidneys decreases.
